What is radiation therapy?<\/h4>\n

Radiation therapy\u00a0is the treatment of cancer with radiation. This can be done in a variety of ways, depending on the nature of your\u00a0cancer. The most commonly used method is called\u00a0external beam therapy\u00a0(from a machine outside the body), which directs radiation at your tumor.<\/p>\n


How does radiation therapy work?<\/h4>\n

Although the radiation affects both cancer and normal cells, it has a greater effect on the cancer cells. Treatment aimed at cure will give the highest possible dose of radiation to the cancer area (within safe limits) to attempt to kill all the cancer cells.
